World Record Holder, Eliud Kipchoge was presented with the prestigious award of Abbott World Marathon Majors Series XII. Kipchoge defeated Ethiopian athletes Birhanu Legese and Lelisa Desisa to emerge as the winner of the coveted award after collecting 50 points.
Both of the Ethiopian Marathoners scored 41 points however Kipchoge became second by votes done by the directors of the event. This win will see Kipchoge pocketing Ksha.25 million as prize money.

The Kenyan athlete has had an impressive 2019 career-wise. First winning Virgin Money London Marathon where he set a record 2:02:37, become his fastest Marathon of all-time Recently, barely a month, he set a record of 1:59:40, during the INEOS challenge in Vienna, Austria.
In the women’s category of Abbott World Marathon Majors Series XII, Brigid Kosgei beat off Ruta Aga from Ethiopia and fellow Kenyan Vivian Cheruiyot to bag the award after garnering 50 points. Just like Kipchoge Kosgei won the London Marathon in 2019 and she will pocket kshs.25 million.
