For the first time in some years, PSG’s winger Neymar Júnior was left out since he did not fully play during the 2018-2019 season due to foot injury and indiscipline cases which saw him being suspended from playing such the UEFA ban for insulting game officials on the social media. He was banned for three matches.
The club also took a disciplinary action on the player for missing training during the preseason of 2019-2020 in July. Atletico Madrid’s goalkeeper Jan Oblak, Liverpool’s wing-back Andrew Robertson and Chelsea’s midfielder N’Golo Kante was also not selected.
Harry Kane, Tottenham’s forward, similarly didn’t make it to the shortlist regardless of his dependability in English Premier League and Champions League with his club Tottenham Hotspur.
